The Resident’s “Day at the Capitol,” which was held on September 22nd, was a huge success! Over 30 residents came to Lansing to take a tour and learn more about the legislative process. A special thank you to the Program Coordinators for helping the next generation of psychiatrists get involved in the politics that shape our profession.
Tour of the new welcome center
A very special thank you to Sheri Beecfroft (wife of MPS Vice President Bill Beecroft) who led us on a tour of the Capitol.
Residents were able to see where the State Senate and House of Representatives vote on legislation, while getting a history lesson about the building.
Attended the Health Policy Hearing
We attended a House Health Policy Committee Hearing to show how bills are discussed and changed before they make it to the chamber floor for a vote.
Meeting with a Legislator
Residents met with Representative Graham Filler at the office of Capitol Strategies Group.
He explained the best ways to be in contact with your legislator.
